2D Animation

Most animation in this short reel was created in After Effects with assets created in Illustrator or Photoshop, I am passionate about animation in all its forms and have dabbled in traditional animation, stop-motion, and 3D.

In these clips, my roles included:

  • Creative ideation, pitching, and planning

  • Character Design

  • All animation, including custom After Effect rigs for characters

  • Drafting of scripts, storyboard creation, animatic edit

  • Audio - Voice-Over Performance, Music Composition, Sound Design

Personal Projects & Works in Progress

Personal Project - TBA - WIP

I am currently in pre-production on an original animation featuring a cast of insects. Targeting 2024 release.

Tools so far include:

Characters illustrated in Procreate, then cleaned up using Vectornator (Now known as Curve)

Illustrator for turnarounds/3d template

Blender for 3D modelling & rigging - These will be used as maquette reference if I choose to animate traditionally in Toon Boom Harmony or Grease Pencil

Big Dippers (In-Progress)

Sequel to AACTA entry “Saucy”

Some clips of animation tests, animatics, and roughs for new “Diane & Molasses” short - Big Dipper

Originally started as a submission for SmartFone Flick Fest 2023, this project grew in scope to the point we will be releasing it independently. Nonetheless, this animation is still being produced entirely on iPad, with a combination of full traditional, limited and rigged animation.

Procreate for character design, prop design, and storyboarding

Rough Animator for roughs and tie-down

ToonSquid for final animation cleanup

Garageband for score composition with final audio in Logic Pro

Davinci Resolve for editing

Saucy (2022)

Winner “Beyond Punderdome” Spot Prize

LMAO (Laughing My AACTA Off) June 2022

AACTA LMAO was a monthly competition aimed at discovering the funniest new and original short comedy content.

The theme was “Saucy”, so drawing on our love of puns, my partner and I jam-packed as many sauce puns as possible into one minute, featuring original characters Diane and Officer Molasses.

This challenge was used to test the viability of creating short-form animation using only iPad Pro apps:.

Procreate to draw character elements from initial sketch to final art. Each character was then split out into PNG elements for rigging, including phoneme mouths for lip-sync.

Garageband for recording dialogue.

Animation Pro to rig and animate the characters, including lip-sync

Lumafusion for editing and dialogue captions
